Letter to Dr. Robert Patterson [manuscript], 1820 November 7.

Jefferson discusses a Mr. H. B. Trist (the man delivering the letter to Patterson), stating "that a more diligent student or a more correct and well-disposed youth I have never known." He urges Dr. Patterson to help Trist if he ever needs the counsel of a friend.
